About
After graduating from the Wellington School of Design in 1990 I worked in Wellington for many years before moving to Auckland. During that period of time technology changed considerably and relatively quickly, at the start of my career photoshop didn’t exist… and neither did the Mac!
My styles are quite diverse largely due to this transition over time but also because I enjoy working with variety. I still love the hands on approach of pencil on paper, paint on board as well as pen to tablet.
I am inspired by colour, texture, pattern, spontaneity and have always had a very gestural, loose, organic and often playful fun approach to my work. I enjoy working in different mixed mediums across a variety of subject matters and areas including packaging, advertising, typography, photography and of course my own personal work. I am fairly well traveled and always find inspiration from different cultures, their peoples and their art - from the streets of New York to sailing around the Pacific Islands and the Galapagos Islands and beyond.
What i love about the creative process is that as an illustrator and artist I am continuously evolving, growing and adapting through problem solving, experimenting, pushing ideas, re-inventing myself and constantly being challenged.
And of course that there are no limits!
